CVE-2019-16108: 
PHP vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2019-16108 is a security vulnerability discovered in phpBB version 3.2.7 that allows attackers to add arbitrary Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) token sequences to a page through BBCode. The vulnerability was disclosed and patched in September 2019 with the release of phpBB 3.2.8 (Vendor Advisory).

The vulnerability stems from improper validation of BBCode parameters which allowed modifying the style attribute and injecting arbitrary CSS into the page. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 7.5 (HIGH) with vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N, indicating that it can be exploited remotely with no privileges required (NVD).

The vulnerability allows attackers to inject arbitrary CSS into pages, which could potentially be used to modify the appearance and layout of the forum pages, potentially leading to user interface manipulation and possible phishing attacks (NVD).

The vulnerability was fixed in phpBB version 3.2.8. Users are advised to upgrade to this version or later to protect against this vulnerability. The fix includes proper validation of BBCode parameters to prevent CSS injection (Vendor Advisory).
