The vulnerability exists in the gf_list_count function within utils/list.c of libgpac.a library. When processing certain malformed MP4 files through MP4Box, the application attempts to access an invalid memory address (0x00047fff8001), leading to a segmentation fault. The issue was discovered through fuzzing testing and can be triggered through the MP4Box -info command (GitHub Issue).

Impact

When exploited, the vulnerability results in a denial of service condition by causing the application to crash when processing specially crafted MP4 files (MITRE CVE).
