Knwl.js is a Javascript library that parses through text for dates, times, phone numbers, emails, places, and more. A Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) vulnerability was identified in versions 1.0.2 and prior (GitHub SecLab).
The vulnerability exists in the URL validation functionality of Knwl.js. The library uses a regular expression pattern for validating URL links that is vulnerable to ReDoS attacks. This vulnerability was discovered using a CodeQL query which identified the regex as susceptible to exponential backtracking (GitHub SecLab).
