The CVE-2021-37694 affects @asyncapi/java-spring-cloud-stream-template, which generates Spring Cloud Stream (SCSt) microservices. In versions prior to 0.7.0, the vulnerability allowed arbitrary code injection when an attacker had control over the AsyncAPI document (NVD).
The vulnerability exists in the template generation process where user-controlled input from the AsyncAPI document could be used to inject arbitrary code into the generated Java files. This was possible through manipulation of the operationId field in the AsyncAPI specification, which could be crafted to include malicious Java code that would be directly incorporated into the generated service (GitHub Advisory).
When exploited, this vulnerability allows attackers to inject arbitrary Java code into the generated Spring Cloud Stream microservice. This could lead to remote code execution within the context of the application when the generated code is compiled and executed (GitHub Advisory).
There are no mitigations available for this vulnerability. Users are advised to upgrade to version 0.7.0 or later which contains the fix for this issue (NVD).
