Technical details

The vulnerability is a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) issue caused by missing or incorrect nonce validation in the metaboxreviewsave() function. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 4.3 (Medium) (Wordfence).

Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to save meta tags via forged requests if they can trick a site administrator into performing specific actions, such as clicking on a malicious link (NVD).

Mitigation and workarounds

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 1.0.9 of the Absolute Reviews plugin. Site administrators are advised to update to this version or later to protect against this vulnerability (WPScan).
