Vulnerability in the Oracle Coherence product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: Core). The vulnerability was disclosed in April 2022 and affects Oracle Coherence versions 12.2.1.3.0, 12.2.1.4.0, and 14.1.1.0.0. This is an easily exploitable vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers with network access via T3 protocol to compromise Oracle Coherence (Oracle CPUApr2022).

Technical details

The vulnerability was identified with CVE-2022-21420 and was discovered by Cl0und of Syclover Security Team and Liboheng of Tophant Starlight laboratory. The vulnerability exists in the Core component of Oracle Coherence, which is part of Oracle Fusion Middleware (Oracle CPUApr2022).

Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers with network access via T3 protocol to compromise Oracle Coherence. A successful exploitation could lead to unauthorized access and potential system compromise (Oracle CPUApr2022).

Mitigation and workarounds

Oracle released security patches for this vulnerability as part of the April 2022 Critical Patch Update. Users are strongly recommended to update to the patched versions of Oracle Coherence to mitigate this vulnerability (Oracle CPUApr2022).
