Python vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2022-2930 is a security vulnerability affecting OctoPrint versions prior to 1.8.3. The vulnerability is related to an unverified password change functionality in the GitHub repository octoprint/octoprint (Debian Tracker).

The vulnerability allows users to change passwords without verifying the current password, creating a security weakness in the authentication system. This was addressed by implementing mandatory current password verification for password changes, except for administrators who retain the ability to change user account passwords without current password verification (GitHub Commit).

The vulnerability could potentially allow unauthorized password changes if an attacker gains access to a user's session, compromising account security and potentially leading to unauthorized access to OctoPrint installations.

The vulnerability has been fixed in OctoPrint version 1.8.3. Users should upgrade to this version or later to receive the security fix. The fix implements mandatory current password verification for password changes, with an exception for administrators (Debian Tracker).
