CVE-2022-31830
JavaScript vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Overview

Kity Minder v1.3.5 was discovered to contain a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the init function of ImageCapture.class.php. The vulnerability was disclosed on May 25, 2022, and affects the image capture functionality of the application (GitHub Issue, NVD).

Technical details

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of the image parameter in the init function of native-support/archive/src/ImageCapture.class.php. The vulnerability chain begins when user input from $REQUEST['data'] in native-support/export.php is processed through multiple files before reaching the curlinit function. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 9.1 CRITICAL (Vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N) (NVD).

Impact

The vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker to induce the server-side application to make requests to unintended locations. This can be exploited to probe internal network services and potentially access sensitive internal resources (GitHub Issue).
