CVE-2022-38467: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in CRM Perks Forms – WordPress Form Builder plugin versions 1.1.0 and below. The vulnerability was identified on September 30, 2022, and was assigned CVE-2022-38467. This security issue affects WordPress installations using the vulnerable plugin versions (Patchstack).

The vulnerability occurs because the plugin fails to properly sanitize and escape certain parameters from a sample file before outputting them back in the page. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 6.1 (Medium), with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) (WPScan).

This vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when visitors access the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 1.1.1 of the CRM Perks Forms plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later immediately. For users unable to update immediately, Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate this issue by blocking potential attacks (Patchstack).
