Overview

Cross Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in FeehiCMS-2.1.1 allows remote attackers to run arbitrary code via the callback parameter to /cms/notify. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on August 31, 2022 (MITRE CVE, GitHub Issue).

Technical details

The vulnerability exists in the callback parameter handling of the /cms/notify endpoint in FeehiCMS version 2.1.1. The application fails to properly sanitize user input in the callback parameter, allowing attackers to inject and execute malicious JavaScript code on the webpage (GitHub Issue).

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript code in the context of other users' browsers. This could lead to theft of sensitive information, session hijacking, or other malicious actions performed in the context of the affected users (MITRE CVE).
