WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2023-2256 is a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Product Addons & Fields for WooCommerce plugin versions below 32.0.7. The vulnerability was discovered and reported by Alex Sanford, and was publicly disclosed on May 1, 2023 (WPScan).

The vulnerability occurs because the plugin does not properly sanitize and escape some URL parameters in the admin interface. This vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS score of 7.1 (High), and is classified as CWE-79: Cross-Site Scripting. The issue specifically affects the admin panel functionality when handling certain URL parameters (WPScan).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript code in the context of an administrator's browser session.
