CVE-2023-22696: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The vulnerability (CVE-2023-22696) is an Authenticated (Contributor+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting Custom4Web Affiliate Links Lite plugin versions up to and including 2.5 for WordPress. The vulnerability was discovered and reported by Justiice, and was publicly disclosed on April 14, 2023 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 5.4 (MEDIUM) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation - Cross-site Scripting) (NVD).

This vulnerability could allow a malicious actor with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.7 of the Affiliate Links Lite plugin. Users are advised to update to version 2.7 or later to remove the vulnerability. Patchstack users can enable auto-update for vulnerable plugins as an additional security measure (Patchstack).
