Overview

Auth. (admin+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affects the Alex Moss Semalt Blocker WordPress plugin versions 1.1.3 and below. The vulnerability was discovered on January 10, 2023, and was publicly disclosed on April 18, 2023 (Patchstack).

Technical details

The vulnerability occurs because the plugin does not properly sanitize and escape some of its settings, which could allow high privilege users such as administrators to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks even when the unfiltered_html capability is disallowed, such as in multisite setups.
