CVE-2023-24404: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in the VryaSage Marketing Performance WordPress plugin versions 2.0.0 and below. The vulnerability was identified on January 23, 2023, and was assigned CVE-2023-24404 (CVE Mitre, NVD).

The vulnerability stems from improper sanitization and escaping of a parameter before it is output back in the page. This security flaw has been classified as CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation). The vulnerability has received varying CVSS scores, with NVD assigning a base score of 6.1 (MEDIUM) with vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N, while Patchstack rated it at 7.1 (HIGH) with vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L (WPScan, Patchstack).

The vulnerability could be exploited against high-privilege users such as administrators. If successfully exploited, it allows malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website, which would be executed when guests visit the site (Patchstack).

Currently, there is no official fix available for this vulnerability. Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate this issue by blocking potential attacks until an official fix becomes available (Patchstack).
