CVE-2023-32292: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The CVE-2023-32292 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the GetButton Chat Button WordPress plugin versions 1.8.9.4 and below. The vulnerability was discovered by Jayasuryapal G and publicly disclosed on July 17, 2023 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue that affects high-privilege users such as administrators. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 4.8 (Medium) with a vector string of CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability exists because the plugin does not properly sanitize and escape some of its settings, which could allow high privilege users to perform Stored XSS attacks even when the unfiltered_html capability is disallowed, such as in multisite setups (WPScan).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors with administrative access to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would then be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 1.8.10 of the GetButton Chat Button plugin. Users are advised to update to version 1.8.10 or later to remove the vulnerability (Patchstack).
