CVE-2023-37894: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in RadiusTheme's Variation Images Gallery for WooCommerce plugin, affecting versions 2.3.3 and below. The vulnerability was identified on July 12, 2023, and was assigned CVE-2023-37894. This security flaw affects WordPress installations using the vulnerable plugin versions (Patchstack).

The vulnerability stems from improper sanitization and escaping of certain parameters before they are output back to the page. It has been classified as CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation). The vulnerability received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.1 (MEDIUM) from NIST and 7.1 (HIGH) from Patchstack, with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N (NVD, Patchstack).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website, which would be executed when visitors access the site. This particularly affects high-privilege users such as administrators (WPScan).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.3.4 of the plugin. Users are advised to update to version 2.3.4 or later to remove the vulnerability. Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate this issue by blocking any attacks until users update to a fixed version (Patchstack).
