CVE-2023-40328: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in the WordPress Carrrot plugin versions 1.1.0 and below. The vulnerability was reported on February 7, 2023, by Prasanna V Balaji and was assigned CVE-2023-40328. This security issue affects authenticated users with administrator or higher privileges (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 4.8 (Medium) by NIST with a vector string of CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. Patchstack has rated it slightly higher at 5.9 (Medium) with a vector string of CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) (NVD).

The vulnerability could allow a malicious actor with administrator privileges to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

Currently, there is no official fix available for this vulnerability. The issue affects versions 1.1.0 and below of the Carrrot plugin (Patchstack).
