CVE-2023-41239: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability was discovered in the Blubrry PowerPress Podcasting plugin for WordPress, affecting versions through 11.0.6. The vulnerability was disclosed on August 29, 2023, and was assigned CVE-2023-41239. The issue affects users with Contributor-level permissions and above (WPScan, Patchstack).

The vulnerability stems from insufficient validation of a parameter in the powerpressmediainfo AJAX action. This security flaw received a CVSS v3.1 score of 6.5 (Medium) and is classified under CWE-918. The issue allows authenticated users with Contributor-level access or higher to perform SSRF attacks (WPScan, NVD).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to execute website requests to arbitrary domains, potentially leading to the discovery of sensitive information about other services running on the system (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 11.0.7 of the PowerPress Podcasting plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later to resolve the security issue. Additionally, Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate this issue by blocking potential attacks until users can update to the fixed version (Patchstack).
