CVE-2023-41691: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

An unauthenticated Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in the Pensopay WooCommerce PensoPay plugin versions 6.3.1 and below. The vulnerability was reported on June 24, 2023, by Le Ngoc Anh and was assigned CVE-2023-41691. The issue affects WordPress installations using the WooCommerce PensoPay plugin (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been assessed with different CVSS scores by various organizations. The National Vulnerability Database (NVD) assigned a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 6.1 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N, while Patchstack rated it higher at 7.1 (High) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) (NVD).

This vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into affected websites. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the compromised site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 6.3.2 of the WooCommerce PensoPay plugin. Site administrators are advised to update to version 6.3.2 or later immediately. Patchstack has also issued a virtual patch to mitigate this issue by blocking potential attacks until users can update to the fixed version (Patchstack).
