CVE-2023-44987: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The vulnerability (CVE-2023-44987) is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Timely - Appointment software Timely Booking Button WordPress plugin versions 2.0.2 and below. The vulnerability was discovered and reported by yuyudhn on February 2, 2023, and was publicly disclosed on October 2, 2023 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 4.8 (Medium) by NVD with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. Additionally, Patchstack assigned a slightly higher CVSS score of 5.9 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) (NVD).

This vulnerability could allow a malicious actor to inject malicious scripts, such as redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website which will be executed when guests visit the site. The impact requires administrator privileges to exploit and user interaction to complete the attack (Patchstack).

Currently, there is no official fix available for this vulnerability. The security issue has been assessed as having a low severity impact (Patchstack).
