CVE-2023-45759: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in Peter Keung's Custom Anti-Spam WordPress plugin affecting versions 3.2.2 and below. The vulnerability was initially reported on August 30, 2023, and was publicly disclosed on October 12, 2023 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as an unauthenticated Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue, identified as CVE-2023-45759. It received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.1 (MEDIUM) from NIST with a vector string of CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N, while Patchstack assessed it with a higher CVSS score of 7.1 (HIGH) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The vulnerability is categorized under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) (NVD).

This vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website, which would be executed when guests visit the site. The impact is considered highly dangerous with the potential for mass exploitation (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 3.2.3 of the plugin. Users are advised to update to version 3.2.3 or later immediately. Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate this issue by blocking any attacks until users can update to a fixed version (Patchstack).
