CVE-2023-47850: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in PeepSo Community WordPress plugin, identified as CVE-2023-47850. The vulnerability affects versions up to and including 6.2.2.0 of the Community by PeepSo – Social Network, Membership, Registration, User Profiles plugin. The issue was initially reported on September 24, 2023, by researcher Khalid Yusuf and was publicly disclosed on November 20, 2023 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) and requires contributor-level privileges or higher to exploit. It received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.5 (Medium) from Patchstack with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L, while NIST assigned a slightly lower score of 5.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N (NVD).

The vulnerability allows malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts will be executed when guests visit the affected site, potentially compromising the security and integrity of the website content (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 6.2.3.0 of the PeepSo Community plugin. Users are advised to update to version 6.2.3.0 or later to remove the vulnerability. Patchstack users have the option to enable auto-updates for vulnerable plugins (Patchstack).
