CVE-2023-51396: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in Brizy.Io Brizy – Page Builder WordPress plugin, affecting versions through 2.4.29. The vulnerability was identified on December 26, 2023, and was assigned CVE-2023-51396. This security issue allows for Stored XSS attacks in the WordPress plugin (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as an Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (CWE-79) issue. It received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 5.4 (Medium) from NIST with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N, while Patchstack assigned it a slightly higher CVSS score of 6.5 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L (NVD).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site. The attack requires contributor-level privileges to exploit (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 2.4.30 of the Brizy – Page Builder plugin. Users are advised to update to version 2.4.30 or later to remove the vulnerability. Patchstack users have the option to enable auto-update for vulnerable plugins (Patchstack).
