CVE-2023-6556: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The FOX – Currency Switcher Professional for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2023-6556) affecting all versions up to and including 1.4.1.5. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on January 11, 2024, impacting the currency options functionality of the plugin (NVD).

The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the plugin's currency options parameters. This security flaw has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 5.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (NVD, WPScan).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page, potentially leading to unauthorized data access or manipulation of user interactions (NVD).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 1.4.1.7 of the FOX – Currency Switcher Professional for WooCommerce plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later to mitigate the security risk (WPScan).
