CVE-2024-0895: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The PDF Flipbook, 3D Flipbook – DearFlip plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-0895) discovered in all versions up to and including 2.2.26. The vulnerability was disclosed on February 2, 2024, and affects the outline settings functionality (NVD, WPScan).

The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied data in the outline settings. The issue has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 5.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (NVD).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page, potentially leading to the compromise of user sessions or theft of sensitive information (WPScan).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 2.2.27 of the plugin. Users are strongly advised to update to this version or later to mitigate the risk (WPScan).
