CVE-2024-24848: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in MJS Software PT Sign Ups WordPress plugin versions up to 1.0.4. The vulnerability was disclosed on February 2, 2024, and was assigned CVE-2024-24848. This security flaw allows for Stored XSS attacks in the PT Sign Ups – Beautiful volunteer sign ups and management made easy plugin (NVD, Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.1 (Medium) by NIST with a vector string of CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N, while Patchstack assessed it with a higher CVSS score of 7.1 (High). The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (NVD).

This vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

Currently, no official fix is available for this vulnerability. However, Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate the issue by blocking potential attacks until an official fix becomes available (Patchstack).
