Mattermost vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Overview

Mattermost versions 9.8.0, 9.7.x <= 9.7.4, 9.6.x <= 9.6.2 and 9.5.x <= 9.5.5 contain a vulnerability where users can specify a RemoteId for their posts. This vulnerability was assigned CVE-2024-39361 and allows attackers to specify both a remoteId and the post ID, resulting in creating posts with user-defined post IDs (NVD).
