CVE-2024-49264: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in NicheAddons Events Addon for Elementor plugin, identified as CVE-2024-49264. The vulnerability affects versions through 2.2.0 of the Events Addon for Elementor plugin. The issue was initially reported on September 26, 2024, by researcher João Pedro S Alcântara (Kinorth) and was publicly disclosed on October 14, 2024 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as an Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (Cross-site Scripting) issue, categorized under CWE-79. It received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.5 (Medium), with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The vulnerability requires Contributor or higher level privileges to exploit (Wordfence).

This vulnerability could allow a malicious actor to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 2.2.1 of the Events Addon for Elementor plugin. Users are advised to update to version 2.2.1 or later to remove the vulnerability (Patchstack).
