CVE-2024-52464: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in the WordPress amr shortcodes plugin through version 1.7. This Reflected XSS vulnerability was discovered on November 18, 2024, and was assigned CVE-2024-52464. The vulnerability affects the plugin's input handling during web page generation (Patchstack, NVD).

The vulnerability is classified as an Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (CWE-79) issue. It has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 7.1 (HIGH) with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The vulnerability allows for Reflected Cross-Site Scripting attacks, which can be triggered by unauthenticated users (Patchstack).

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

As there is currently no official fix available, and the software appears to be abandoned (last updated over a year ago), users are strongly advised to remove and replace the plugin with an alternative solution. For temporary mitigation, Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to block any attacks until an official fix becomes available (Patchstack).
