CVE-2024-53796: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in Themesflat Addons For Elementor WordPress plugin, identified as CVE-2024-53796. The vulnerability affects versions up to 2.2.2 and was discovered by João Pedro Soares de Alcântara. The issue was reported on November 14, 2024, and publicly disclosed on December 2, 2024 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as an Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (CWE-79) that allows DOM-Based XSS. It received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.5 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L according to Patchstack's assessment, while NVD rated it at 5.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N (NVD).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when visitors access the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.2.3 of the Themesflat Addons For Elementor plugin. Users are advised to update to version 2.2.3 or later to remove the vulnerability (Patchstack).
