Overview

An issue in the itcsamplerow_check component of openlink virtuoso-opensource v7.2.11 allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via crafted SQL statements (NVD). The vulnerability was discovered in January 2025 and affects the database query processing functionality of Virtuoso Open Source.

Technical details

The vulnerability exists in the itcsamplerowcheck function of Virtuoso's query processing component. When processing certain SQL queries with specific conditions and CASE statements involving numeric comparisons and table operations, the system crashes at the itcsamplerowcheck function, as evidenced by the backtrace (GitHub Issue). The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 7.5 HIGH with vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H (NVD).

Impact
