CVE-2024-8546: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The ElementsKit Elementor addons plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in versions up to and including 3.2.7. The vulnerability exists in the plugin's Video widget due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes (NVD).

The vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2024-8546 and has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 5.4 (Medium) with vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The issue stems from improper input validation and output escaping in the Video widget component, which allows for the injection of malicious web scripts. The vulnerability has been classified under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) (NVD).

When successfully exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These injected scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the affected page, potentially leading to the compromise of user sessions, theft of sensitive information, or other malicious actions (NVD).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 3.2.8 of the ElementsKit Elementor addons plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later to protect against this security issue (WordPress Plugin).
