CVE-2024-9017: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The PeepSo Core: Groups plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-9017) discovered in versions up to and including 6.4.6.0. The vulnerability exists in the Group Description field due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping (NVD, CVE).

The vulnerability is classified as a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (CWE-79) issue with a CVSS v3.1 base score of 7.2 (HIGH). The attack vector is network-based (AV:N) with low attack complexity (AC:L), requiring no privileges (PR:N) and no user interaction (UI:N). The scope is changed (S:C) with low confidentiality (C:L) and integrity (I:L) impacts, and no availability impact (A:N) (NVD).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into group description pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever any user accesses the affected pages (NVD).

The vulnerability was addressed in version 6.4.6.2 of the PeepSo Core: Groups plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later to protect against this security issue (PeepSo Changelog).
