CVE-2024-9609: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The LearnPress Export Import – WordPress extension for LearnPress plugin for WordPress has been identified with a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-9609). The vulnerability was discovered by researcher vgo0 and publicly disclosed on November 14, 2024. This security issue affects all versions up to and including 4.0.4 of the plugin (NVD).

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of the 'learnpressimportform_server' parameter. It has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.1 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (NVD, Wordfence).

If successfully exploited, this vulnerability could allow unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when users perform specific actions, such as clicking on a malicious link. This could lead to potential information disclosure and compromise of user interactions with the affected plugin (NVD).

Users should update their LearnPress Export Import plugin to version 4.0.5 or later, which contains the security fix. The vulnerability has been patched as evidenced by the changes in the WordPress plugin repository (WordPress Patch).
