CVE-2025-26939: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in bPlugins Counters Block WordPress plugin, identified as CVE-2025-26939. The vulnerability affects versions through 1.1.2 of the Counters Block plugin and was discovered by Logan Cote. The issue was reported on January 24, 2025, and publicly disclosed on February 23, 2025 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue, specifically an Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation. It has received a CVSS v3.1 score of 6.5 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The vulnerability is tracked under CWE-79 and requires Contributor or higher privileges to exploit (Patchstack).

The vulnerability could allow a malicious actor with Contributor or higher privileges to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 1.1.3 of the Counters Block plugin. Users are advised to update to version 1.1.3 or later to remove the vulnerability. Patchstack users have the option to enable auto-update for vulnerable plugins (Patchstack).
