CVE-2025-31424: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A critical SQL Injection vulnerability (CVE-2025-31424) was discovered in the WP Lead Capturing Pages WordPress plugin affecting versions 2.3 and below. The vulnerability was initially reported by Tran Nguyen Bao Khanh from VCI - VNPT Cyber Immunity on March 31, 2025, and was publicly disclosed on June 3, 2025. This security flaw allows unauthenticated users to perform blind SQL injection attacks against affected WordPress installations (Wiz, Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as an Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command (SQL Injection) with a CWE-89 designation. It received a Critical CVSS v3.1 base score of 9.3, with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:L. The high severity score indicates that the vulnerability is easily exploitable remotely without requiring any privileges or user interaction (NVD, Wiz).

The SQL injection vulnerability could allow malicious actors to directly interact with the website's database, potentially leading to unauthorized access to sensitive information, data theft, and database manipulation. The critical CVSS score of 9.3 indicates severe potential consequences if exploited (Wiz).

Currently, no official fix is available for this vulnerability. However, Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate the issue by blocking potential attacks until an official fix becomes available.
