WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A critical PHP Object Injection vulnerability was discovered in BoldThemes Medicare theme affecting versions through 2.1.0. The vulnerability was identified on May 20, 2025, and was assigned CVE-2025-39499. This unauthenticated vulnerability allows attackers to perform object injection attacks against WordPress websites running the affected Medicare theme versions (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 9.8 (Critical) with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-502 (Deserialization of Untrusted Data) and requires no authentication to exploit. The attack vector is network-accessible, requires low attack complexity, and needs no user interaction (NVD, Patchstack).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to execute code injection, SQL injection, path traversal, and denial of service attacks if a proper POP chain is present. Due to its unauthenticated nature and critical severity, this vulnerability is expected to become mass exploited (Patchstack).
