WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in POSIMYTH Innovations' The Plus Addons for Elementor Page Builder Lite WordPress plugin, affecting versions up to and including 6.2.7. The vulnerability was discovered by João Pedro S Alcântara (Kinorth) and was disclosed on May 30, 2025 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as an Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting') issue, falling under the OWASP Top 10 category A3: Injection. It has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.5 (Medium), with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The vulnerability requires user interaction and low-level privileges for exploitation (NVD, Wiz).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the affected page, potentially leading to redirects, unauthorized advertisements, and execution of other HTML payloads on the website (Wiz).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 6.2.8 of the plugin. Users are advised to update to version 6.2.8 or later to remove the vulnerability. Patchstack users can enable auto-update for vulnerable plugins as an additional security measure (Patchstack).
