CVE-2025-49541: 
Adobe ColdFusion vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability (CVE-2025-49541) was discovered in Adobe ColdFusion versions 2025.2, 2023.14, 2021.20 and earlier. The vulnerability was disclosed on July 8, 2025, and affects the form field validation component of ColdFusion, which is restricted to internal IP addresses (NVD).

The vulnerability stems from insufficient validation of user-supplied inputs in form fields. It has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 4.3 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) (NVD, Fortiguard).

When successfully exploited, this vulnerability allows the execution of arbitrary JavaScript code in a victim's browser when they browse to a page containing the compromised form field. The scope of the attack is changed, though the impact is limited due to the requirement of high privileges and the restriction to internal IP addresses (NVD, Fortiguard).

Adobe has released security updates to address this vulnerability. Users are advised to apply the most recent upgrade or patch available through the official Adobe security bulletin (Adobe Advisory).
