CVE-2025-7279: 
IrfanView vulnerability analysis and mitigation

IrfanView CADImage Plugin contains a remote code execution vulnerability (CVE-2025-7279) that affects the parsing of CGM files. The vulnerability was discovered in early 2025 and publicly disclosed on July 8th, 2025. It affects IrfanView CADImage Plugin versions up to (excluding) 15.0.0.8 for both x86 and x64 architectures, as well as IrfanView versions up to (excluding) 4.72 (Zero Day Initiative).

The vulnerability is classified as an Out-of-Bounds Read (CWE-125) that occurs during the parsing of CGM files. The specific flaw stems from inadequate validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a read operation past the end of an allocated buffer.
