WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Overview

The WoodMart theme for WordPress contains an Improper Input Validation vulnerability (CVE-2025-8097) affecting all versions up to and including 8.2.6. The vulnerability was discovered by Samir El Khaouti from NIXO Solutions LLC and was publicly disclosed on July 25, 2025 (NVD, Wordfence Intel).

Technical details

The vulnerability stems from insufficient validation of the qty parameter in the woodmartupdatecart_item function. The issue has been assigned CWE-20 (Improper Input Validation) and received a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 5.3 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N (NVD).

Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to manipulate cart quantities using fractional values. By setting extremely small quantities (e.g., 0.00001), attackers can round cart totals to $0.00, effectively bypassing payment requirements and enabling unauthorized acquisition of virtual or downloadable products (NVD).
