The attack requires no user authentication to WhoDB, only authentication to any database server (GitHub Advisory).
The vulnerability is highly exploitable as it requires no special configuration - the default configuration of the application is vulnerable. The attack can be executed through the WhoDB UI without the need for manual HTTP requests. A proof-of-concept exploit has been demonstrated using a clean instance of WhoDB and MySQL (GitHub Advisory).
The vulnerability has been addressed in version 0.45.0 of WhoDB. All users are strongly advised to upgrade to this version or later. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability (GitHub Advisory).
