CVE-2019-2194: 
NixOS vulnerability analysis and mitigation

In SurfaceFlinger::createLayer of SurfaceFlinger.cpp, there is a possible arbitrary code execution vulnerability due to improper casting. This vulnerability (CVE-2019-2194) affects Android 9.0 devices. The issue was disclosed in the October 2020 Android Security Bulletin (Android Bulletin).

The vulnerability is caused by incorrect type conversion or casting in the SurfaceFlinger component (CWE-704). It has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 7.8 (HIGH) with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H (NVD).

A successful exploitation could lead to local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. The vulnerability affects confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system, all with high impact ratings (NVD).

The vulnerability requires local access and low attack complexity. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. The attacker needs low privileges to execute the attack (NVD).

The vulnerability was patched in the October 2020 Android Security Bulletin. Users should update their Android devices to include the security patch level dated 2020-10-01 or later (Android Bulletin).
