NixOS vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2020-0118 is a high-severity elevation of privilege vulnerability affecting the Android Media Framework in Android 10. The vulnerability was disclosed and patched in Google's June 2020 Android security update (Threatpost).

The vulnerability could enable a local malicious application to bypass user interaction requirements in order to gain access to additional permissions in Android 10. This security flaw was addressed as part of the Android Media Framework component updates (Threatpost).

If successfully exploited, the vulnerability allows malicious applications to gain elevated privileges and access additional permissions without proper user interaction, potentially compromising the security model of the Android operating system (Threatpost).

The vulnerability requires local access and a malicious application to be exploited. There are no reports of this vulnerability being exploited in the wild at the time of disclosure (Threatpost).
