Overview
A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability (CVE-2020-10810) was discovered in HDF5 through version 1.12.0. The vulnerability exists in the function H5AC_unpin_entry() located in H5AC.c file. This vulnerability was identified and reported in March 2020 (NVD).
Technical details
The vulnerability occurs when the function H5AC_unpin_entry() attempts to dereference a NULL cache_ptr pointer before calling H5C_log_write_unpin_entry_msg() for generating a log message.
