CVE-2021-2022: 
MySQL vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: InnoDB) affects versions 5.6.50 and prior, 5.7.32 and prior, and 8.0.22 and prior. This is a difficult to exploit vulnerability that allows high privileged attackers with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server (MITRE CVE, NVD).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 4.4 (Availability impacts) with the vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H. The vulnerability requires high attack complexity and high privileges to exploit, with network access being the attack vector (MITRE CVE).

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server (MITRE CVE).

The vulnerability is difficult to exploit and requires high privileges and network access via multiple protocols. The attacker must have high privileges and network access to attempt exploitation (Oracle CPU).

Oracle has released patches to address this vulnerability in MySQL versions. Users should upgrade to MySQL version 8.0.23 or later. For Fedora users, patches are available through the package management system (Fedora Update).
