CVE-2021-2123: 
VirtualBox vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Vulnerability in the Oracle VM VirtualBox product of Oracle Virtualization (component: Core) identified as CVE-2021-2123. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed in January 2021, affecting versions prior to 6.1.18. The vulnerability was reported by researchers from Ant Security Light-Year Lab, specifically Gaoning Pan and Xingwei Lin (Oracle CPUJan2021).

The vulnerability was part of a larger security update that addressed multiple vulnerabilities in Oracle VM VirtualBox. The issue was significant enough to require patching in the 6.1.18 release. The vulnerability was discovered alongside other security issues (CVE-2021-2073, CVE-2021-2074, CVE-2021-2086) that were fixed in the same update (Gentoo Security).

The vulnerability was considered important enough to be included in Oracle's Critical Patch Update of January 2021. It affected the core component of VirtualBox, which is a critical part of the virtualization software (Oracle CPUJan2021).
