MySQL vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: InnoDB). Supported versions that are affected are 5.7.33 and prior and 8.0.23 and prior. This is a difficult to exploit vulnerability that allows high privileged attackers with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server (NVD, Oracle Advisory).

The vulnerability has a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 4.4 (Medium severity) with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H. The attack requires network access and high privileges, but no user interaction. The vulnerability affects the InnoDB component of MySQL Server and can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server (NVD, Oracle Advisory).
