CVE-2021-2304: 
MySQL vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Stored Procedure) affecting versions 8.0.23 and prior. This vulnerability allows high privileged attackers with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server (Oracle Advisory, MITRE).

The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 Base Score of 5.5 (Medium) with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:H. The attack requires network access and high privileges, but has low attack complexity and requires no user interaction (NVD).

Successful exploitation can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of MySQL Server accessible data (Oracle Advisory).

The vulnerability is considered easily exploitable by attackers with high privileges and network access via multiple protocols. The attack requires low complexity but high privileges to execute (NVD).

Oracle has released patches to address this vulnerability in MySQL version 8.0.25. Ubuntu users should upgrade to mysql-server-8.0 version 8.0.25-0ubuntu0.21.04.1 for Ubuntu 21.04, version 8.0.25-0ubuntu0.20.10.1 for Ubuntu 20.10, and version 8.0.25-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Ubuntu Notice).
