CVE-2021-23330: 
JavaScript vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2021-23330 is a Command Injection vulnerability affecting all versions of the launchpad package. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on November 24, 2020, and was published on February 1, 2021. The vulnerability affects the stop functionality in the launchpad package (CISA Bulletin, Snyk Report).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 7.5 (High severity). The command injection vulnerability occurs when user-supplied input is not properly sanitized before being used in command execution. The issue arises in multiple locations where paths and commands are concatenated without proper validation, allowing for command escape through quotes (GitHub PR).

If exploited, this vulnerability allows an attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the target system. The impact includes potential total loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system, with the attacker gaining the ability to execute malicious commands with the privileges of the application (Snyk Report).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 0.8.0 of the launchpad package. Users should upgrade to this version or higher to mitigate the risk.
